How do I choose the right intake manifold for my engine?

Start by matching the manifold to your engine platform (Small Block Chevy, LS, Ford, Mopar, etc.) and intended use:

  • Dual-plane manifolds are ideal for street torque and drivability.
  • Single-plane manifolds offer high-RPM performance for racing or aggressive builds.

    Also consider carbureted vs. EFI setups, hood clearance, and runner volume based on your cam and compression ratio.

What’s the difference between single-plane and dual-plane manifolds?

  • Single-plane manifolds have a common plenum feeding all cylinders. They deliver excellent top-end power and are suited for high-RPM or race applications.
  • Dual-plane manifolds separate the plenum into two sections, improving low- and mid-range torque — perfect for street and mild performance builds.
