Product Details

Features

  • Compatible with 1955-1986 Chevy small block engines
  • Features a dual-plane air-gap design.
  • Available in black or satin finish.

Description

TSP's dual-plane air gap intake manifold for the small block Chevy is ideal for high-performance applications. Its improved design is complimented by an open area under the plenum. This feature ensures less heat transfer from the engine, meaning the air/fuel charge will be cooler and produce more power and torque. Producing power and torque comparable to single-plane manifolds, it improves drivability and throttle response like other dual-planes and performs best between 1,500 and 6,500 rpm. It is cast from lightweight aluminum and features a relatively low profile for great hood clearance. Additional provisions include dual distributor hold-downs, 4 corner water ports, nitrous bosses and a square bore carburetor flange.

Q&A

What engines is this intake manifold compatible with?
This intake manifold is designed for 1955–1986 Chevrolet Small Block V8 engines and can be used on 1987–1995 models with the included adapters.

Will this intake fit a 350 Small Block Chevy?
Yes, this intake is fully compatible with 350 SBC engines, along with other common displacements such as 305, 327, and 400.

Does this intake work with Vortec or LT1 heads?
This intake is not compatible with LT1-style heads and typically does not fit Vortec heads without modifications or a different manifold design.

What type of carburetor does this intake support?
This intake is designed for square bore carburetors and works best with 600–700 CFM vacuum secondary carbs for street use or 700–800 CFM for higher-performance builds.

What RPM range does this intake operate in?
Designed for approximately 1,500–6,500 RPM, providing strong mid-range and improved top-end performance.

What advantage does the air gap design provide?
The open plenum area reduces heat soak, helping maintain cooler intake temperatures and more consistent power output.

How does this compare to a standard dual-plane intake?
Compared to standard dual-plane intakes, this air gap design offers better top-end performance while still maintaining good throttle response and drivability.

Is this intake better for street or performance builds?
This intake is ideal for performance street builds and aggressive street/strip setups, offering a balance of drivability and higher RPM power.

What type of intake manifold is this?
This is a dual-plane air gap intake manifold, designed to improve airflow efficiency and reduce heat soak compared to traditional dual-plane designs.

Will this intake clear a stock hood?
It features a relatively low-profile design, but due to the air gap construction, hood clearance should be verified depending on your vehicle.

What material is this intake made from?
It is constructed from lightweight aluminum, improving heat dissipation and reducing overall engine weight.

Does this intake support nitrous or additional accessories?
Yes, it includes provisions such as nitrous bosses, dual distributor hold-downs, and multiple water ports for flexible performance setups.

Is this intake a direct bolt-on upgrade?
In most cases, it installs as a direct replacement for compatible SBC engines, though proper tuning and carburetor setup are recommended for best results.

Will I need tuning after installing this intake?
While not always required, tuning is recommended to fully take advantage of the improved airflow and performance potential.

Will this intake help reduce heat soak issues?
Yes, the air gap design specifically reduces heat transfer from the engine, helping keep intake temperatures lower and improving performance consistency.

Is this a good upgrade over a stock or standard intake?
Yes, this intake offers improved airflow, better high-RPM performance, and reduced heat soak compared to stock and standard dual-plane intakes.

Does the black finish offer any benefits?
The black coating can help reduce radiant heat absorption slightly while also providing a more aggressive engine bay appearance.

Is the black finish durable?
Yes, the coated finish is designed for durability and corrosion resistance with minimal maintenance required.

Emissions Notice

This Top Street Performance (TSP) product is designed for racing and off-road competition use only. It is not legal for use on public roads or emissions-controlled vehicles and does not comply with federal, state, or local emissions regulations. The buyer assumes all responsibility for legal use and installation.

What is a Emissions-Controlled Vehicle?
"An emissions-controlled vehicle is any vehicle equipped with a factory-installed emissions control system designed to reduce air pollution. These systems include catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valves, and diesel particulate filters (DPF). Most vehicles manufactured after 1975 are considered emissions-controlled and must comply with federal and state emissions laws when used on public roads."
