Q&A
What engines is this intake manifold compatible with?
This intake manifold is designed specifically for 1996–2002 Chevy Small Block V8 engines equipped with Vortec cylinder heads, including 305 and 350 engines.
Will this intake fit a 350 Vortec engine?
Yes, this intake is fully compatible with 5.7L (350) Vortec engines using the factory 8-bolt intake pattern.
What makes this different from standard SBC intake manifolds?
Vortec intake manifolds use a different bolt pattern (8 bolts instead of 12), so standard SBC intakes will not fit Vortec heads without modification.
Will this intake work on pre-1996 Small Block Chevy engines?
No, this intake is designed specifically for Vortec-style heads and is not compatible with earlier non-Vortec SBC engines.
Is this intake compatible with LT1 engines?
No, LT1 engines use a different intake design and are not compatible with this manifold.
What RPM range is this intake designed for?
This dual-plane intake operates from idle up to approximately 5,500 RPM, making it ideal for street performance applications.
What performance improvements can I expect?
This intake improves throttle response, torque, and overall drivability compared to stock Vortec truck intakes, especially in low- to mid-range RPMs.
Is this intake better for street or racing applications?
This intake is best suited for street performance and mild street/strip builds where drivability and torque are important.
What type of intake manifold is this?
This is a dual-plane intake manifold, designed to improve airflow velocity and enhance low- and mid-range performance.
Will this intake clear a stock hood?
Yes, it features a low-profile design that helps maintain hood clearance in most applications.
What material is this intake made from?
It is constructed from lightweight aluminum, which improves heat dissipation and reduces overall engine weight.
Does this intake include additional features for installation?
Yes, it includes provisions such as dual distributor hold-downs, four-corner water ports, and a choke block-off kit for flexible setups.
Is this intake a direct bolt-on for Vortec engines?
Yes, it is designed as a direct replacement for Vortec intake manifolds, though proper gaskets and setup are required.
Do I need any special modifications to install this intake?
No major modifications are required, but because Vortec engines lack a water bypass, you will need to connect the manifold to the water pump using a heater hose as designed.
What carburetor setup does this intake support?
It is designed for spread bore carburetors and includes an adapter plate and gasket for use with square bore carburetors.
Is this a good upgrade from a stock Vortec truck intake?
Yes, this intake provides improved airflow and better throttle response compared to factory truck intakes, making it a strong upgrade for carbureted conversions.
Will this intake help improve throttle response?
Yes, the dual-plane design increases air velocity at lower RPMs, improving throttle response and drivability.
Is this intake good for carbureted Vortec conversions?
Yes, this intake is specifically designed for carbureted setups, making it ideal for converting fuel-injected Vortec engines to carburetors.
What are the benefits of the satin finish?
The satin finish provides a clean, OEM-style appearance with low maintenance and resistance to fingerprints and oxidation.
Does the satin finish require maintenance?
Minimal maintenance is required—occasional cleaning is typically enough to keep it looking good.
Emissions Notice
This Top Street Performance (TSP) product is designed for racing and off-road competition use only. It is not legal for use on public roads or emissions-controlled vehicles and does not comply with federal, state, or local emissions regulations. The buyer assumes all responsibility for legal use and installation.
What is a Emissions-Controlled Vehicle?
"An emissions-controlled vehicle is any vehicle equipped with a factory-installed emissions control system designed to reduce air pollution. These systems include catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valves, and diesel particulate filters (DPF). Most vehicles manufactured after 1975 are considered emissions-controlled and must comply with federal and state emissions laws when used on public roads."
